To choose a stream after Class 10, base it on your genuine interests and strengths and the careers each stream opens, not on peer pressure or the myth that one stream is superior. Science, Commerce and Arts each lead to excellent careers; the right one is the one that fits you.
Know what each stream offers. Science (PCM/PCB) leads to engineering, medicine, research and tech. Commerce leads to CA, finance, business and economics. Arts/Humanities leads to law, design, psychology, civil services, media and more. Each is a strong path, not a backup.
Follow interest and aptitude. Pick based on the subjects you enjoy and do well in, and what you can sustain for years. Studying a stream you dislike just for prestige usually backfires.
Drop the myths. Science is not better than Commerce or Arts, and Arts is not for weak students. These outdated beliefs push students into wrong choices, when every stream has bright futures.
Example: A student in Raipur was pushed toward Science for prestige but loved business and numbers. After honest reflection and a chat with a counsellor, he chose Commerce, did far better, and is happily heading toward CA.
Get guidance. Talk to teachers, seniors in each stream, or a counsellor, and consider a simple interest or aptitude quiz. Real input beats guessing or following friends.
One practical tip: Choose the stream you would be willing to study for the next two to four years even if your friends were not in it. If yes, it is likely the right fit, choose for your future, not for the crowd.
