Hotel management is a glamorous career, you will stay in five-star hotels, attend parties, and live a luxurious life from the start.
The first 3 to 5 years involve cleaning, serving, cooking, and standing through long shifts. The glamour is experienced by guests. Hospitality professionals create it. The life looks very different from the inside, and that is exactly what you should think about when choosing this field.
A BHM from any private college is as good as a government IHM degree for hotel hiring.
Major hotel chains like Taj, Oberoi, and Marriott specifically target government IHMs for campus recruitment. An NCHMCT-affiliated government IHM is the strongest credential for hotel chain hiring in India. Private institutes vary enormously in quality and industry recognition.
Hotel management has no scope in India, the salary is always low and the work is degrading.
Hotel General Managers at 5-star properties earn Rs.25 to 60 LPA. Revenue managers, executive chefs, and F&B directors at major chains earn Rs.15 to 30 LPA. The sector has a genuine salary ceiling.
