To prepare for practical exams and viva, focus on three things: completing your record file neatly, understanding the experiments rather than memorising steps, and revising the common viva questions for each one. Practicals are among the easiest places to score high marks, so do not treat them casually.
Keep your record file complete and neat. A well-maintained file with all experiments, diagrams, and readings often carries easy marks. Finish it before the exam, do not leave it for the last night.
Understand each experiment. Know the aim, procedure, apparatus, observations, and especially the reason behind each step. Examiners in viva ask why, so understanding beats blind memorisation.
Prepare common viva questions. For each experiment there are standard viva questions: definitions, principles, precautions, sources of error. Revise these for every experiment; they repeat often.
Practise the actual skill. Be comfortable handling the apparatus and performing or describing the experiment confidently. Fumbling during the practical loses marks even when your theory is fine.
